My interest in photography was sparked when I studied multimedia for a couple of years in the second half of the 90s. After the education, the interest in photography remained for a few years when I started working as a visual designer. The job in visual and digital design has given me the chance to try and be involved in different kinds of projects – graphic design, online training, graphic profiles, photography, virtual reality and countless websites where design, experience and user-friendliness are important ingredients.
I started shooting with film, but only for a short period, and I prefered black and white. Took an evening course in photography and development in the early 00s and fell in love with the whole process. I had the opportunity to shoot some gigs, take pictures for CDs and websites. Pretty soon, the digital camera came knocking on my door and it opened up a whole new world for me. My new digital camera wasn’t the best, but still a system camera and I kept shooting. That’s when I tentatively started exploring nature photography. At the same time, career and life in general were also going on, which made my interest in photography cooled and it disappear quite quickly out of my life. If I may guess, it was then at some point that a seed was planted. A seed that was allowed to grow in peace for approximately 14–15 years.
When I started photography again in 2018, I quickly discovered the allurement of being out in nature with my camera. Experiencing the nature in that way was powerful. The smells, the silence, and the sounds, the beautiful, the hidden and the grand. I still experience this pretty much every time I’m out shooting.
My interest in outdoor photography has made me explore and discover new things within myself. Being completely alone deep in a forest, by a lake or by a stormy sea is an incredible experience. My senses, my heart and my soul are filled with peace and energy. The presence and harmony that I experience is hard to describe.
